More Casino Gambling Coming To Miami From Churchill Downs

Play at Golden Casino

There has been a debate going on in the state of Kentucky as to whether or not it would be beneficial to expand casino gambling at Kentucky racetracks. Churchill Downs is at the center of that debate, needing the gambling revenue to help the track survive.

They have received no indication, however, whether the expanded gambling will become a reality in their home state, so they have started construction of a casino in a state where casino gambling is thriving-Florida.

Louisville based Churchill Downs has begun construction at Calder Race Course in Miami. The company owns the race course, and has correlated the completion of the casino with the Super Bowl next year.

The Super Bowl is being held at Land Shark Stadium, which is near Calder Race Course. The Pro Bowl will also be held at the stadium, and the influx of football fans should help the casino get off their feet nicely.

The cost of the project is estimated at $85 million. The casino will include valet parking, self-service wagering terminals, and 1,225 slot machines. Even though the casino will be new, there will be much competition.

Already, the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood is a prime location for casino gamblers. The Hard Rock has poker and more importantly, blackjack, which the Calder casino will not have.
