Nevada casinos apparently will always win money. The figures are in for 2007, and while revenue was still up, it was the lowest that it has been since 2002.

The economy is creating stress for casino owners all over the United States. In Nevada, however, casinos are still making money despite the troubling economy.

In 2007, casino in Nevada had a 1.8 percent gain in winnings. The overall winnings for the states casinos was $12.85 billion. That is a small percentage of the almost $170 billion that was spent in wagering.

In 2006, there was an eight percent gain for state casinos. Some are believing that the gain in 2007 is a sign of just how powerful the casino industry is in Nevada.

"It says something about the industry when you are able to market the casino properties and increase revenues during these slow times," said Frank Streshley, Gaming Control Board Analyst.

The revenue win reflects only that of which was generated from the actual gambling. Since most of these casinos are located inside of big luxurious hotels, other money accumulated is not shown in the revenue numbers. Money that comes from things such as entertainment, food, liquor sales, or hotel stays are not included.
