Lawmakers in the state of Pennsylvania have been aggressively pursuing a new law that will legalize table games at state casinos. While that process has not gone smoothly, the state can rejoice in the fact that a new casino was opened on Friday.

The Parx Casino, formerly PhiladelphiaPark Casino and Racetrack, opened to the public on Friday and the early reviews have been filled with enthusiasm. Patrons spent the day becoming acquainted with what the new casino has to offer.

The $250 million Parx Casino opened at 6AM, and customers were prepared to gamble right from the start. There were thousands of people who came through the casino throughout the day, and each had their own take on the facility.

"I am used to going to Atlantic City to gamble, but I wanted to give Parx a try," said Marion Nelson, "From what I saw today, I will likely be spending much more time in the future here instead of in New Jersey."

The new casino has many more machines and a much different variety than the old casino. The additional options were clear to gamblers from the opening of the doors Friday morning. Patrons also remarked on the classiness of the new casino.

The slot machines will be the draw this weekend, but table games may soon be coming to the casino. Governor Ed Rendell pushed lawmakers late this past week to pass legislation legalizing the table games. he threatened layoffs to state employees if the law is not in place before early January.
