New Jersey Gambling Study Released For Video Lottery Expansion

New Jersey is facing the same problems that Las Vegas is going through, the competition from neighboring states has put a dagger in gambling revenue, now a study has been released on the advantages of placing video poker machines in the states horse racing tracks.

In a recent report, it was found that the state of New Jersey could raise revenue by $433.5 million if they decided to put video lottery machines at their horse racing tracks, but the addition of the machines would damage the states already struggling Atlantic City casinos.

The report, which was released Wednesday by the state Treasury Department claimed that Atlantic City casino revenue could be hurt by up to two percent by the addition of 6,300 video lottery terminals.

The battle is pretty much separated by North and South, as South Jersey politicians have been lobbying to keep the machines out of the horse tracks, while North Jersey legislators are claiming the machines would be good for the state.

The other problem that is facing Atlantic City other than these machines possibly going in, is the slots that are currently being operated in New York and Pennsylvania, two states that New Jersey used to grab gambling business from.
