New Planned Casino Could Bring Hundreds Of Jobs To Mississippi
At a time when state lawmakers are searching for ways to lower unemployment rates, a casino developer may help the cause in Mississippi. Rotate Black Inc. has announced their intentions of bringing a casino to Mississippi.
The company has signed a letter of intent to develop six acres of land where a 240-foot gaming ship will be docked. The casino, if approved, would bring about 450 new jobs to a state desperate for employment opportunities.
The Gaming Commission would not comment on the possibility of an additional casino other than to say that there is nothing that has been proposed to them. The developer claims that will change in the near future.
"We're in the process of getting everything together now," said Dual Cooper, President and COO of Rotate Black. "We want to move expeditiously, but it's going to be six to eight months until we open."
The gaming ship is only the start of what Rotate Black is hoping to develop. The company has expressed interest in eventually building a land-based casino on the property they will be leasing. The hope is to be able to compete with the other Mississippi casinos in the future.
While the company is ready to move quickly, Gaming Commissioner Jerry St. Pe said that the process of approving the casino could take some time. St. Pe also acknowledged that the timing of the approval could depend on the the site of the proposed casino.
