New Tropicana Owners Promise Casino Gambling Glory Once Again
The Tropicana Las Vegas casino was once one of the premiere properties on the Vegas Strip. It, however, has turned into one of the lower end establishments in recent years and has gone through bankruptcy proceedings.
On Wednesday, the casino came out of bankruptcy with new owners who believe the casino will be returned to its glory days. Onex Corporation, along with former MGM Mirage President Alex Yemenidjian, now have control of the Tropicana.
Yemenidjian knows that he faces an uphill battle in restoring the Tropicana to its place on top of the Vegas casino scene, but believes there is, "nothing more rewarding that while people say something can't be done to be interrupted by people who are doing it."
Part of that challenge will come in the next few months. Major renovations are expected at the Tropicana and all aspects of the establishment will receive those renovations. Hotel rooms will be upgraded, along with the casino floor, the spa and pool.
New additions to the casino will include a nightclub and expanded dining options. The idea is to completely turn the perception around that Tropicana cannot survive in this economic climate.
