North Bend, Washington Trying To Eliminate Social Card Parlors
With new casinos to an area, comes new problems. Although a tremendous amount of revenue is generated for state's that have casinos, there are still dangers that must be prepared for.
In North Bend Washington, the City Council is in the midst of these preparations. A new casino is coming to North Bend, and the City Council is making sure that no outside activity will be taking place.
When an area such as North Bend gets a new casino, the games within the casino can become very popular. Sometimes, that popularity leads to people trying to capitalize on the popularity. Social game parlors begin to show up in the area.
Th Revised Code of Washington gives legality to these card parlors, but gives individual cities the right to make them illegal. North Bend has exercised that option.
"This has nothing, per se, against gambling, nor does it affect the casual poker game or poker party between friends held at someone's house. It's these mini-casinos the council is concerned about," said Duncan Wilson, a City Administrator.
The Snoqualmie Casino will soon be open in North Bend, and the City Council is simply trying to ensure that it is the only location where legalized card playing is taking place. While they are content with their decision to ban card parlors, they also are aware there may be cost issues.
The addition of law enforcement is also something that will arise from the new casino. Additional officers will have to be on duty at all times.
