Ohio Columbus Casino Vote Less Than Two Weeks Away
Voters in the state of Ohio must be getting tired of having to constantly answer questions regarding casino gambling. On May 4th, residents will go back to the polls and determine the permanent site for a casino in Columbus.
Back in November, voters approved casino gambling in the state for the first time in history. Voters had been asked several times before, but either the timing or the specific proposal was never right, and the proposals often failed.
Last year, however, the pro-gambling groups that supported the plan to bring four casinos to the state, ran an almost flawless campaign. They educated the public on the benefits of the new casinos, and residents responded by approving the amendment.
One of the cities that was slated to receive a casino was Columbus. Community business leaders were not fond of the Arena District location for the casino. In order to have the location changed, all Ohio voters would have to amend last year's passage. That will take place in May.
The relocation proposal is not expected to face much opposition. proponents have been , however, running ads to ensure that voters are not confused by the wording on the ballot. They are clarifying that the issue is only the relocation of the Columbus casino, and not a referendum on an additional casino.
