Ohio To Receive Information On Problem Gambling In July
Voters in the state of Ohio have spoken last November, and for the first time in the state's history, casino gambling will become a reality. Now, the state is preparing to educate its residents on the dangers of problem gambling.
The National center for Responsible Gaming will be holding their annual Road Tour in Cleveland in July. As part of their arrival, the group will school treatment agencies, researchers, and public leaders on the different aspects of problem gambling.
"It is important that Ohio lawmakers understand their role in ensuring that residents of the state are protected against problem gambling," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz. "This is one way to spread a wealth of information from a non-profit group well equipped to help the state in this area."
Many states across the US have expanded their gambling options, and it has led to an increase in call to gambling addiction hot lines. Naturally, with more people being exposed to gambling, the risk is present for increased cases of gambling addiction.
Preparation has worked best in areas of the country that have added new casinos in recent years. Knowledge of the subject and the ability to understand that help exists are both keys to keeping gambling addiction cases down for these states.
Ohio voters approved four casinos back in November. The casinos will be located in Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, and Cincinnati. The Columbus location could be changed by voters in the upcoming election after business leaders disapproved of the original Arena District location.
