Olympia Group Narrowing Sites For Oxford Casino
The Olympia Group is bringing a casino to Oxford, Maine, they just do not know the exact location as of yet. The Group is closer to making that decision after narrowing the choices down.
The Oxford Highlands Resort-Spa-Casino has a name, but does not yet have a location. The Olympia Group has been gathering information and researching various sites for the new resort.
Environmental reviews and traffic analysis have been started by Olympia in the hopes of finding a suitable site for the casino. The Group has worked closely with Oxford officials and the professionalism of the group has not gone unnoticed.
"Just like any other prospective developer, the Olympia Group is working with town officials to determine the best site for Oxford Highlands. I have found them to be very professional and responsive," said Town Manager of Oxford, Michael Cummings.
The developmental process has been moving swiftly for Olympia. Last week, they announced that Oxford will be the location for their new project. Voters still need to approve the casino, however, in November.
The proposal on the table is a $184 million four-season facility. Various opposition groups have formed to fight against the casino, but it will not be know until the election in November whether voters will approve the new casino.
