Only Three More Days To Use Old Gambling Chips At Foxwoods Casino
On January 31st, it will be out with the old and in with the new at Foxwoods Hotel Casino. They have begun replacing the old fashioned gambling chips with a new, high tech version.
The move is being made by Foxwoods to a chip that contains individual serial numbers and radio frequency computer chips. They may act different, but the look will be similar to the old chips they had been using.
"Tracking the chip gives us a better idea of customers ratings at the table and also assists in chip inventory," said the Director of casino Accounting Operations at Foxwoods, Jackie Mason.
Counterfeit chips have become a problem at Foxwoods and other casinos around the world. People replicate a casino's house chips. Then, they bring them in and play at the tables, many of which are never caught.
The new technology will help save Foxwoods from being hit with counterfeit chips. So far, Foxwoods has put in two million of the new chips. The rest will be eliminated by the end of the week.
Any customers who save their chips and use them next time they go to the casino will have until January 31st to cash them in for either money or the new chips. After Saturday, Foxwoods will no longer be accepting the old chips.
