It has not been a good couple of weeks for the Palm Beach Princess. The gambling ship has had several financial setbacks, some of which causing workers to revolt, and now comes word that the ship cannot operate out of the US.

The US Coast Guard made the announcement that the Princess would not be allowed to operate out of the US because it has failed to repair the main engine of the ship. Whether or not the ship will ever sail again from a US port is up in the air, but some believe it will.

"This particular ship should be back up and running," said Port Operations Director Carl Baker, as reported in the Sun-Sentinel. The ship has been conducting business out of the port for the past twenty-two years.

The latest events come just one week after workers on the Princess showed their displeasure with how they were being treated by management. The crew went on strike for several issues, including bounced and late paychecks.

Another issue that triggered a revolt last week was when the captain of the ship, who was extremely popular with the crew, was fired. That led to around forty workers storming the ship before it left for one of its day cruises. That dispute has since been resolved.

The Princess has had several setbacks in the past couple of years. Last year, the Princess was in bankruptcy, but was bought out. The mechanical problems are further hurting the financial stability of the ship, and now the main engine must be fixed before the US will again allow the Princess to sail.
