Penn National Gaming Brings Casino Magic Back to Life
In the pre-Hurricane Katrina Era, there was a very well-known casino on the Gulf Coast under the name Casino Magic. Now, the casino is coming back to life and is reopening as the Hollywood Casino.
Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN), the parent company, renamed the property to "Hollywood Casino" as a way of rebranding the casino. The casino was originally named "Magic" when acquired from Pinnacle Entertainment, a company based out of St. Louis.
According to the AP, Penn National Gaming also has plans to build a brand new gambling casino in the near future. They're gambling barge suffered major damage and will be completely taken apart and scrapped.
The Gulf Coast has seen a tremendous rebound as tourism numbers have increased dramatically and several casinos have reopened including the Beau Rivage (MGM Mirage) last week.
