Pennsylvania Gaming Board Brings DeNaples Back To Casino

The state of Pennsylvania is making a strong push to become the leader on the East Coast when it comes to casino gambling. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board took a step in that direction on Thursday.

Louis DeNaples, the owner of Mount Airy Casino Resort had his gaming license suspended after having a run-in with the law. The perjury charges against DeNaples were dropped over a half year ago by Dauphin County authorities.

Part of the plea agreement for the charges to be dropped was that DeNaples would give up control of his casino to his daughter, Lisa. Now, DeNaples will be allowed back on the premises, something the struggling casino desperately needed.

"Just the feeling of the owner coming back onto the property is going to lift the burden that's been on this property for a year and a half," said George Toth, Chief Executive Officer of Mount Airy Casino Resort.

DeNaples still will not be able to profit from the casino. He will be allowed, however, to give advice and back the casino financially. He will only have limited, not full, control over the casino.

Mount Airy, like many other casinos in the country is struggling financially. The economy has caused profits to shrink, and DeNaples having his license restored could have an immediate impact on the facility.
