Pennsylvania Gaming Board Looks For Answers On Casino Development

USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

The state of Pennsylvania appears to finally have their downtown Pittsburgh casino situation under control. Now, the state Gaming Control Board is turning their attention to why it is taking so long to build two casinos in Philadelphia.

The Control Board has requested that the two developers of the slot casinos, Sugar Hill and Foxwoods, appear on April 8th and update the status of the building process. They are looking for details to why the casino projects have not yet begun.

"Many questions have been raised as to why they have not yet started construction, even two years after the licenses were granted," said Board Chairwoman Mary D. Colins, as reported in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "The board wants to know what the obstacles are and what the operators plan on doing to overcome these and deliver their projects to Pennsylvania.

The two developers received licenses for the slot casinos back in late 2006, but neither Foxwoods nor Sugar House have started their construction. It is rumored that Foxwoods is exploring other possible locations in the city other than the riverfront site they were licensed for.

Sugar House, on the other hand, has been dealing with issues relating to permits. The residents in the area where the casino is going to be built have been complaining about the traffic the casino will bring.
