Pennsylvania Gaming Board To Deliberate On Last Casino License
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has been extremely busy these past couple of months. With everything they must do to get table games up and running in the state, another issue is still left to be decided.
One casino resort license remains in the state, and it is up to regulators to hand out that license. The last of five applications came in this past week, and the Gaming Board will now spend the next several months reviewing the applications.
Many factors will be considered when discussing the applications. Location, developer commitment, and possible job creation are just a few of the ideas that will be discussed during the deliberations. That will all be in addition to the public hearings that the Gaming Board is still holding on table games.
Earlier this year, lawmakers legalized table games for casinos in the state. Casinos had to petition the Gaming Board to install the table games, and before an approval could be given, public hearings had to be held. Those hearings have been taking place this past month.
As for the last license, a new development group, Penn Harris Gaming, threw their name in the hat this past Wednesday. They are proposing a casino resort for the Holiday Inn in Hampden. The Poconos, Wyomissing, Fayette County, and a hotel just south of Gettysburg are the other locations that have been proposed by developers.
