Pinnacle's Baton Rouge Casino Project Moves Along As Planned
Pinnacle Entertainment has not been immune to the economic troubles that have hit the gaming industry. The Las Vegas-based company has had to slash several of their upcoming projects because of the economic recession and the credit freeze in the US.
One of those projects, the Sugarcane Bay casino project, has now felt the effects of the economy. Pinnacle announced that they are cutting several features of the project in an effort to save over $100 million in building costs.
Among the ideas that have been shelved at the Lake Charles project is a retail area that would have brought the total cost of the casino to over $400 million. Instead, the company has cut that cost down to $305 million.
Another Louisiana casino project, in Baton Rouge, will move along as planned. Pinnacle announced that no changes have been made to the Baton Rouge project, which will cost the company around $250 million to build. A 100 room hotel, restaurants, lounges, and an entertainment venue will all be part of the Baton Rouge project.
The main attraction for Pinnacle in Baton Rouge will be a single-level riverboat casino. The company has had an up and down ride on the stock market in the past couple of months, with the price currently sitting at just over $11 a share.
