Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino Gambling On Miss America Pageant
Casinos in Las Vegas cannot afford to keep losing their corporate events. The economy is struggling and the hotels at these casinos are operating at limited capacity. That is why it was important for the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino to re-sign a deal with the Miss America pageant.
For the past four years, Planet Hollywood has been the home to the Miss America pageant and on Tuesday they made it official that they will hold the pageant again next year. The pageant will be a week-long event that will end on Saturday, January 30th.
"We are so excited to have the most talented, smart and beautiful girls in the nation returning here to their home at Planet Hollywood," said Bill Feather, President of Planet Hollywood Worldwide Resorts.
The pageant will also be staying put on the airwaves. TLC has once again been chosen to air the finale on Saturday night. This past year, the pageant was the number one rated show on cable for the night.
"We are thrilled to be returning to Planet Hollywood again for our fifth consecutive year," said Art McMaster, President and CEO of the Miss America Organization, "The 2009 Pageant exceeded our expectations, and we are continuing to build on new traditions in Las Vegas."
The city of Las Vegas has seen their casino gambling industry crumble over the past couple of years. They are desperately seeking more events such as the Miss America Pageant to ensure that people still have a reason to come to their city.
