The stock market is creating cost crunches in some of the biggest entertainment companies in the world. Playboy Enterprises has become the latest company that is scaling back in these difficult economic times.

Playboy has announced this week that they will not be hosting their annual Super Bowl bash. The rumors had been swirling for months but there was hope an agreement could be reached to bring the party to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa.

That never came to fruition and the party has officially been canceled. "While we are huge fans of Super Bowl weekend and are participating in the DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl event, we will not be hosting a separate party in Tampa," said Lauren Melone of Playboy.

The company has been downsizing recently. They have had to cut almost 100 jobs, and have also had to cut operating costs by over $10 million. They are not the only company that is scaling back their Super Bowl efforts.

It is the automobile industry that usually gobbles up many of the television ad slots for the Super Bowl game. Several of the big companies have already announced that they will not be buying ads like they have in the past.
