Problem Gamblers Being Helped at 85 Percent Rate in Adelaide
Everywhere around the World there are programs that help with the addictions of problem gamblers, one of them at Flinders Medical Centre, is actually succeeding at an 85% rate.
The program which gives extensive counseling to those in need, is going so well, that they plan on expanding it to Salisbury, in the suburbs of Adelaide.
The cost of this expansion will be expensive as the extended services, which will be available in the Riverland, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Ceduna, Mount Gambier, Murray Bridge, and Whyalla, is going to cost $1.34 million a year.
That cost, however, will be well worth it if the program can help problem gamblers get over their addictions and get back on their feet.
Although the program is applauded by government, and even with its expansion, the thought is that it will only reach a certain number of people, and that would still leave many problem gamblers not treated.
The 85% rate of the program is relatively high and shows that with the proper counseling, problem gamblers do have hope of regaining their lives and being normal functioning members of society.
