Prosecutors Charge Dealer In Million Dollar Casino Scam
The fallout continues for the individuals involved in a million dollar casino scam in Indiana. The latest person to be charged is Michael Waseleski, a former dealer at Resorts East Chicago Casino.
The dealer, according to authorities, was approached by the men running the scam. They taught the dealer how to illegally pull off a fake shuffle, and he used what he learned to help the criminals pull of the scam and win large amounts of money.
There have been thirty-one people associated with the crime that have already pleaded guilty to the crimes. The investigation, however, has led to more people being implicated, and Waseleski is one of those people.
"As long as there are casinos there will be gamblers who believe they can cheat the system," said CGW Gaming Analyst Brad Dawkins, "And with the casino industry growing in the US, the temptation will be there even more, but when they get caught, these people will be made examples of."
The alleged operation in Indiana took place back in 2005 and involved many employees at the casino. Dealers and casino supervisors have admitted participation by accepting bribes. In some blackjack and baccarat games, cards were not even shuffled, giving the cheating players an advantage over the house.
