Prospective Casino Licensees Show Their Plans In Illinois
The state of Illinois is getting another casino, and after Wednesday it is now clear as to what the three groups would bring with their proposals. The proposals were shown to the Illinois Gaming Board.
It is that Board that will have to choose between the three companies that offered their proposals today. All three had the same promise to the state. They will bring additional revenue to Illinois at a time when it is desperately needed.
Midwest Gaming & Entertainment came in as the low bid on the day and it was not even close. The bid was so much less than Rosemont's bid that their chairman was left searching for answers.
"We can't understand how they (Rosemont) came up with their bid," said Chairman Neil Bluhm. Trilliant Gaming is the group that came in with a high bid. They offered $435 million up front compared to Midwest's $100 million.
Still, Bluhm believes that his groups offer was the best on the table today. "Imagine what 1,200 casino jobs with good wages and health care benefits would mean for these neighborhoods,' said Bluhm.
