Reformed Mob Gambler Speaks about the Dangers of Gambling

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

A former mob boss, Michael Franzese, met with athletes on Sunday at The University of Oklahoma to discuss the potential dangers of gambling at the collegiate level.

The reformed mobster spoke to nearly 500 student-athletes for more than an hour at the Kerr-Mcgee Club in Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

Franzese kept the attention of the athletes the whole time as he spoke to them on specific issues of gambling. He used many humorous and candid stories from his time as one of New York's most powerful financial mob bosses. A role he was in for 16 years. So, perhaps nobody has seen the dark side of gambling any closer than he did.

He held their attention superbly as athletes minds tend to wander when administration brings in guest speakers. Kevin Bookout, a fifth year senior on the track team and former basketball player said, "That was the most quiet all the student-athletes have ever been when they're together. Usually there's a lot of chatter, but when he got to talking everybody shut up."

Being that this was Franzese's second visit to Norman in the past two years and his speaches were very similar both times. So perhaps the athletes payed a little more attention since he was not a stranger to them.
