Registered Sex Offender Wins Mega Millions Lottery Jackpot

The good thing about the lottery is everyone has a chance of turning their lives around with a few lucky numbers. The Mega Millions lottery is run over several states, and is an equal opportunity lottery.

It does not matter who you are, if you are over eighteen years old and not working for the lottery agency, you are eligible. That was good news for a registered sex offender who won the grand prize of $57 million in last weeks draw.

Fred Topous Jr. was released from Michigan Department of Corrections supervision back in October of 2006. Now, almost two years later, he is a multi-millionaire thanks to the Mega Millions lottery.

"I want to enjoy a little bit of life. We're plain folks. We've struggled all of our lives," said Topous. The we he was referring to was him and his wife, who have worked several jobs each to try and survive.

Topous has decided to take the lump sum payout of $34 million. He claims he will buy a house and put his children through college with his newfound riches. He also plans on enjoying life's finer things with his wife.

"He's had some tough breaks. I know some of his secrets, and he knows some of mine. I'm not going any further," said Topous' co-worker and friend, Jan Westcott, to the Grand Rapids Press.

In addition to being a registered sex offender, Topous also has plead guilty to breaking and entering charges in 1984 and 1988.
