There are some basic arguments that comes with bringing a new casino to an area. Anti-gambling advocates argue about the possibility of crime and gambling addiction, while pro-gambling groups claim job creation and revenue increases for the area.
In Lemay, Missouri, the pro-gambling advocates have won. before it is even open, the highly anticipated River City Casino has announced that they are hiring additional employees. originally, 1,200 jobs have already been filled.
Now, River City Casino is preparing to hire an additional 100 employees. The new employees are needed to fill job openings at the casino's Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse. There have been thousands of applicants for jobs at the casino.
The job creation is not the first bit of good news to come from Pinnacle Entertainment, the developer building River City, this week. Earlier in the week, Pinnacle announced they would be opening the casino three months ahead of schedule.
Instead of opening in June, the casino will open in March. That is music to the ears of officials in Lemay. Although the casino will open early, the officials have no plan on immediately spending the revenue generated from the casino.
