Rocky Balboa Pleads Case for Casino Slots in Philadelphia
The competition is heating up for investment groups bidding on the next Pennsylvania slot machine gambling licenses. Pennsylvania State Gaming Regulators will make their final vote on December 20th to determine which two companies will win the lucrative slots licenses and have the opportunity to operate new gambling casinos in Philadelphia.
There are five key groups involved in the bidding for the new licenses. Several top celebrities and politicians are speaking out for their assembly.
One notable lobbyist is actor Sylvestor Stallone, famous throughout the US for his role in the movie Rocky. Stallone appeared in a recorded video message asking regulators to approve a bid for a slots license in his hometown. Other celebrity lobbyists include actor Bruce Willis, music producer Quincy Jones and real-estate mogul Donald Trump.
The message in their voice is clear, they all advocate a new gambling establishment as a way for Philadelphia to generate more tax revenue in an effort to cut taxes, boost jobs and tourism, and increase public school spending.
Once the slot machines are approved and implemented, citizens of Pennsylvania will have the opportunity to play casino-style slots without commuting to Atlantic City for the first time ever.
