Sands Gambling Revenue Dropping At Bethlehem Casino
When the Sands Casino was opened in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania back in May, it was supposed to revive a struggling town. Air had been breathed back into the people of Bethlehem and the casino was considered by many to be a savior.
The last day of June has now arrived and in just a few short months, the casino has seen a sharp drop off in revenue. Officials claim not to be concerned with the revenue drop, but others in the area are voicing their opinions.
"It seems as though the attraction of something new has already worn off in the town," said Blair Hames, a frequent patron of Sands, "at first it was packed almost every night, but lately the crowds have dropped off, which actually is nicer for me."
It is not unusual for new casinos to experience a drop in revenue after the initial opening. The first few months, people who have not seen the casino want to come out and check it out. After that, these people do not tend to come back as frequently.
Despite the drop, officials for both the casino and the city are not panicking. They claim the casino is still on pace to hit projected revenue figures. The economy, of course, is also playing a role in the revenue decrease.
