Sands Macao Now the Biggest Casino in the World
The first casino operated by a western hemispheric business in Asia is now the largest operating casino in the world.
After a two year expansion the Sands Macao has finished its casino floor and is now 229,000 square feet. It holds 740 tables, more than any other casino in the world, both factors making it the largest casino the world has ever seen.
The Sands Macaou, owned by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, is now one of the hottest tourist attractions in Asia.
"The Sands Macao continues to outpace the competition by offering an entertainment experience not found anywhere else in Asia," stated Bradley H. Stone, executive vice president of Las Vegas Sands Corp. CKX, Inc.
In related news, a subsidary company has signed a deal between Elvis Presley Enterprises and Cirque de Solei which will provide an Elvis Presley Cirque de Solei show at the MGM Mirage. The Mirage is under construction in Vegas and expects to open in 2009. The Mirage will replace the current Stardust casino and is a $4 billion project, dubbed Echelon Place.
