School Board Questions Rules for Casino Grants

Voted Top Online Casino Several Years in a Row!

By the end of the discussion at the North Central School Board meeting, all agreed that even if concerns were raised about the process, it was a good problem to have. Members of the Worth County Development Authority, the charitable arm responsible for distributing a percentage of the Diamond Jo Worth Casino revenues, met with the North Central School Board. Members answered questions about who would benefit from the approximately $150,000-$250,000 the North Central district could receive next year.

Exact figures will not be known until the end of the year. Some of the funding would come to the school in graduate scholarships, estimated at between $3,000 and $4,000 each. North Central officials said they were particularly concerned about who in the 2007 graduating class would receive the awards. The problem, said Superintendent Bruce Burton, is that one-third of the class does not live in Worth County. Under WCDA guidelines, college-bound graduates must live in the county in order to receive scholarships.
