Seneca Casino Continues Gambling Operation Despite Ruling
The Seneca Nation had no intentions of shutting the doors to their Buffalo Creek Casino. A judge had ruled several weeks ago that the casino operation was illegal, but did not order the casino closed.
The casino remains open despite the ruling, and the Seneca Nation appears to have no plans to close the casino anytime soon. They are still hoping the judges decision will be overturned.
On Wednesday, the casino was issued a notice of violation, but that did not deter the tribe from continuing to keep the casino open. Still, the Seneca Nation does not plan on taking the notice lightly.
"The Seneca Nation intends to immediately file its notice of appeal with the agency, thereby triggering an administrative review process under the agency's regulations," said President of the Seneca Nation, Maurice A. John Sr., in a written statement Wednesday night.
The tribe is still pondering their options as far as appealing Judge William H. Skretny's decision that the temporary casino is illegal. They have so far been amicable in their responses in court.
