Seneca Casino In Niagara Falls Pays Gambler $885,000 Slot Jackpot
There is no better sound for a slot gambler than the one that a machine makes after a major jackpot has been hit. It is loud, and goes on for what seems to be hours. The end result is one gambler becoming very rich, and many other gamblers standing around watching.
That is what happened to John Stehlin, an Amherst man, this past weekend at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls. Stehlin was playing his $45 on the Wheel of Fortune Special edition MegaJackpot machine when the pandemonium broke loose.
Stehlin had already won $100 on the machine and thought he was lucky just for that. A few minutes later, however, the machine showed Stehlin just how lucky he really was when he hit the jackpot for $885,274.
"I was just sitting at a machine a few rows down from where the jackpot was hit," said Beth Raybern, "then I started hearing the loud noise and I see everyone scrambling to see what happened. I fell good for the guy."
Stehlin, like most people these days in the US, has debt to deal with. He plans on using his winnings to eliminate that debt, investing some of the money, and using another portion of the winnings to do some traveling.
Not many people in the US have been turning to slots to try and turn their luck around. The unemployment rate is up across the country, and casinos are feeling the effects of a struggling economy.
