Sin City Sheriff Proposes New System of Cameras For Vegas Strip
Las Vegas, Nevada Sheriff Bill Young is proposing a new surveillance system to be installed and managed by the casino gambling industry on the Las Vegas Strip.
The sheriff says the new camera monitoring system would cost roughly $3 million dollars and would require approximately 120 surveillance cameras monitoring Sin City 24/7.
Several gambling casino companies have spoken out and said they want more data on the sheriff's idea. The ACLU of Nevada calls the idea of installing cameras on the the Strip an invasion of privacy.
The sheriff says the new camera system wouldn't be an example of government intruding on private lives because it would be managed by the gambling casinos, which already have cameras installed inside their facilities.
