Skycity Switches From Potential Casino Sale, To Improvements
Skycity had been down in the dumps. The casino had been under performing and watching revenue drop. The owner was so discouraged that the casino was put on the market for sale.
Improvements have been made and financial savings have taken place. That has led to the owner deciding that the casino will no longer be on the market.
Executive Director Elmar Toime has announced that due to the recent turnaround at Skycity, the company will no longer be selling the casino. Instead, they will be searching for ways to draw people back to the venue.
"We're thinking hard about how to make it once more an exciting place to visit," said Toime. He did not go into detail as to what changes might be made, or what promotions might be coming.
Although the casino is doing better than it had been, it still saw a two percent decrease to 62.5 million in its latest half year revenue results released today.
Last year, a smoking ban was signed into law and executed. The casino saw business decrease because of the ban. November and December had revenue down eight percent, mainly due to the ban.
