Slots License Renewed For Sands Bethlehem Casino In Pennsylvania

Sands Bethlehem Casino has their eyes on much bigger things than just their slot business, but on Saturday they received some good, and expected, news. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board renewed the casinos slot license.

The license came up for renewal and after a public hearing back in February, the Board decided that Sands had met all of the obligations relating to the operation of slots at the casino. Now, Sands will look towards possible table game expansion.

Pennsylvania lawmakers legalized table games earlier this year for state casinos. In order to operate the table games, however, casinos had to apply with the Gaming Board, and a public hearing had to be held.

With the legalities out of the way, Sands and other casinos are hoping to have games such as blackjack and roulette operating by the summer. The table games are expected to bring millions of dollars in revenue to Pennsylvania.

Currently, Sands Bethlehem has over 3,000 slot machines on the gaming floor. The casino opened in May of 2009, and has made over $200 million dollars in gaming revenue since their opening.

Pennsylvania is attempting to jump New Jersey and become the leader of the casino industry in the Northeast. In December, Pennsylvania casinos had higher slot revenue than Atlantic City casinos for the first time ever.
