Smoking Ban Not The Problem At Atlantic City Casinos

Atlantic City casinos have been dropping in revenue numbers for years now. For any of the casino owners who believe that the smoking ban was going to be an end all for their casinos, they had better look in the mirror.

The smoking ban that was set to be put in place to help casino workers who have had to put up with health risks has gone by the wayside. The city has determined, through the urging from casino owners, that a delay of a year was necessary in the implementation of new smoking laws.

The casinos in Atlantic City will never again be what they once were. Atlantic City used to be Las Vegas of the East Coast. That is no longer the case, and it never will be again.

Much more important than the smoking ban is the fact that there is competition all along the East Coast for Atlantic City casinos. State after state are changing their laws to include casino gambling, and that will continue to do damage to the Atlantic City market.

Florida is one of those states where the casino laws have been changing, and should the Sunshine State ever go to full gambling in their casinos, it would most likely be the end of casinos in New Jersey.

People are not traveling to gamble like they used to, but if they do decide to plan a family trip, it will almost certainly be to sunny Florida instead of dreary New Jersey. This is one reason Atlantic City casinos are in trouble.

Casino owners are a cocky bunch. They do not like to be defeated. In Atlantic City, they have found a temporary excuse (smoking ban) for why they will struggle. Now that the smoking excuse has been used, what will they come up with next?
