St. Croix Getting New Hotel And Casino From Wyndham
St. Croix is getting ready to receive a boost from a big time developer. Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is bringing a new casino and hotel to the area, located in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Wyndham St. Croix Golf Resort and Casino will be the name of the establishment. It will be part of a bigger expansion that will bring an entire conference center complex to the area. The cost of the whole project is estimated at $250 million.
An eighteen hole Jack Nicklaus signature golf course will be one of the draws for the resort. It will also include a 17,000 square foot spa and fitness center. The casino will be 25,000 square feet.
The hotel will be 400 rooms of luxury. This spring is the target date to begin construction on the complex. The hope is that it can be operational sometime in 2010.
Wyndham Hotel Management Co. will be the manager of the property. Once built, it will become the twenty fifth resort that Wyndham will have in Mexico and the Caribbean.
The new resort will also help out the economy in St. Croix. It is estimated that 1,200 permanent jobs will be created. While construction is taking place, there will also be 1,000 temporary jobs for construction workers.
