Stanley Ho's People Denying Gambling Icon Had Stroke
Stanley Ho is the most powerful man that has ever come through Macau. he has single-handily turned Macau into something relevant through his casino gambling ventures. These days, however, Ho and his people are having to deal with questions about his health.
In recent weeks, there has been much speculation as to what is exactly wrong with the casino gambling lord. Some have reported that he has had a stroke, while people within his empire have tried to put their own spin on the health problems.
"Dr. Ho is progressing well in his recovery, and any speculation on strokes or immobility is unfounded," said spokeswoman Janet Wong, "We trust the media will refrain from reporting speculation and unsubstantiated rumors. We reserve the right to take appropriate actions against any irresponsible reporting."
Those words are harsh, but it is evident why the media is prying into Ho's personal life. he is the godfather of casino gambling in Macau, and there are billions of dollars at stake, not to mention power, should he not be able to resume his role in running his casinos.
Ho had a monopoly on casino gambling in Macau for years. That all ended when outside companies were allowed to move into the market. Immediately, US-based casino companies starting building casino resorts.
There are many questions that surround potential health problems of Ho. First and foremost will be who will take over his powerful empire should he step away. There have been many reports indicating that a member of his family will take over. Pansy Ho has been rumored to be the heir to the throne, but she has tried to distance herself from her father in recent years.
