State Casino Gambling Down While Lottery's Thrive

Play Now at Las Vegas Casino!

Casino gambling is down all across the United States. From casinos that have just been built, to Las Vegas which has been around for decades, there is no escaping the struggling economy.

An industry that has previously been considered immune to any difficulties relating to the economy is showing that they too can feel its effects. The escalating gas prices are not helping the situation either.

State lotteries are a different story. They usually play second fiddle to casino gambling but have recently turned the tide at least as far as growth. Lotteries around the U.S. are reporting record sales numbers over the past fiscal year.

The reasons for the difference in the two industries are obvious. People are becoming more upset with rising gas prices and are no longer traveling like they used to. A routine trip to the casino closest to them is no longer routine.

Lotteries are fortunate that most of their products are being sold where people need to go. They are at supermarkets, gas stations, and convenience stores, therefore, people do not have to spend excess gas to go buy lottery tickets.

Lottery tickets are also cheaper than going to a casino. It is easier for consumers to take five dollars out of their pockets to buy lottery tickets as opposed to taking fifty or a hundred out of their banks to go to the casino.

Until the economy picks up again, casinos will continue to struggle while lotteries continue to thrive.
