Study Suggests Pennsylvania Casinos Would Benefit From Table Games
Pennsylvania has already begun their efforts to overtake Atlantic City as the casino gambling capital of the East Coast. New casinos are being built, and the state is focusing on the quality of their casino operations.
Now, the results of a study completed by The Innovation Group, of Ventnor, New Jersey, indicate that adding table games to Pennsylvania casinos could be a great revenue opportunity. Table games such as blackjack and baccarat could be the next step in Pennsylvania's transformation into a gambling mecca.
The study claims that $164 million a year could be generated from the addition of the table games. In addition, 10,000 jobs would be created. representative Bill DeWeese is preparing legislation that would legalize table games.
"With Atlantic City casinos struggling the way they are with the economy, it seems like the right time for Pennsylvania to take advantage," said observer Larry Lawson, "the addition of table games would ensure that no gambling money left the state."
Currently, gamblers in Pennsylvania have to leave the state if they want to play blackjack. That is revenue money that the state cannot afford to lose in this tough economic climate.
If Pennsylvania does legalize table games, it could be the last straw for some Atlantic City casinos. The casinos are already experiencing some of the worst revenue declines in their history, and any further revenue drop could signal the end of their stranglehold on casino gambling on the East Coast.
