SugarHouse Brings Revised Casino Plan To Control Board In May
Two casinos that are set to open in Philadelphia are still facing some heavy criticism from opposition groups. On May 6th, SugarHouse Casino and their parent company, HSP Gaming LP, will be able to face some of the criticism face to face.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has set a May 6th date for a board meeting that will discuss the future of SugarHouse casino and also a plan that HSP has devised that would open the casino sooner than expected.
HSP is seeking approval to open a temporary casino until the permanent one is completed. They have submitted their plan, and are hoping that the Gaming Board will approve it. Phase one of the casino plan would cost $650 million and the casino would have 3,000 slot machines.
"Pennsylvania is already getting new casinos in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh," said observer Timothy Walens, "The sooner they let SugarHouse open a temporary casino, the sooner they will begin to see revenue from the casino gambling."
The meeting scheduled in May will be held at the State Museum Auditorium at 300 North St. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The board meeting is open to the public and comments on the casino's future can be made in a written or oral form.
