A Colorado woman was denied a $42 million jackpot by the Fortune Valley casino in Central City. The casino claims that the flashing screen and loud noises made by the slot were all the result of a malfunction.

Louise Chavez became the latest in a growing list of gamblers who have been denied jackpots when they were won. Chavez does not know what her next move will be, but she was certain that she had won a major jackpot when the lights went off.

"People were coming up to me and saying I won $42 million, or at least $42,000," said Chavez, as reported by KDRV FOX31. "Lights were flashing, it sounded like a fire truck, the screen said 'see attendant.'"

The casino attendant that came over to Chavez told her immediately that the slot had malfunctioned. The Director of Marketing at the casino claims that random numbers started to appear on the screen, something that had never before happened.

The Division of Gaming in Colorado will eventually have the final say in whether or not Chavez receives any money. They will use forensics to determine what the proper amount, if any, will be awarded to the gambler.

Regardless of the outcome from the Division of Gaming, a legal battle may be coming. gamblers in other states have brought on lawsuits in similar situations. In some cases, the casinos have settled with the gamblers before the case went to court.
