Texas Finally Sees Crackdown on Illegal 8 Liner Slots
Soon after a report by Casino Gambling Web on how illegal 8 liner slots in Texas were being overlooked by law enforcement a raid took place where police seized more than 50 of the 8 liner slot machines in a building in Van Zandt County in East Texas.
"We got about 53 of the 8 liner machines and approximately $3,000.00," said Sheriff Pat Burnett.
Dan Flynn, a state representative explained the possibility that the machines could make more than $20,000 a month, money that goes to corrupt people who may use the cash for other illegal operatons.
"It's my understanding they cost around a thousand dollars, somewhere in the $850 range (for purchase)," said State Flynn. "Yet, they will earn 20 thousand dollars a month.
"It's not regulated," said Sheriff Pat Burnett. "The owner of the machine regulates these. If they don't want any money to go out they can set it that way."
Online slot machines could pay out more than 98%, Vegas and Atlantic City slots are typically regulated to payout 87%, the 8 liners in Texas that are unregulated could, on some nights, payout less than 25% if the owner of the machine wants to set it that low. That is the danger of unregulated machines according to Burnett.
It is expected that operators of 8 liners in Texas that have long run their businesses illegally with little fear of enforcement, will possibly shut down shop now that they know the police are serious about stopping them.
