Toledo Casino Gambling Will Come To Fruition In 2012
Back in November, voters in Ohio made a historic decision when they approved four new casinos for the state. On Wednesday, people in Toledo found out some of the details relating to their new casino.
Toledo was one of the four cities that will receive a casino under the amendment that was passed in November. Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus are the other three. Penn National Gaming has the rights to build the four casinos.
In Columbus, there has been resistance to the casino plan. The Arena District has been chosen as the site of the new casino, and residents have formed groups to oppose that location. Penn National has said it plans to move forward with building the casino as planned.
In Toledo, Penn National completed a deal to buy forty-four acres of land to build the casino on. Now that the site has been determined, it is just a matter of getting the casino built. Thousands of jobs will be created through the construction and the operation of the casino.
Millions of dollars is expected to be pumped into the economy in Ohio as a result of the four casinos. The job creation and increase in revenue were the driving forces behind the voter approval.
The new casino in Toledo will be built along the Maumee River, which is located near downtown. Penn National is shooting for a second half of 2012 opening for the casino.
