Tropicana Restructuring Approved By Nevada Gambling Regulators

Tropicana Entertainment LLC is trying to get themselves back on track. They are seeking to slowly move towards getting out of bankruptcy and re-establishing themselves as a top casino gambling company.

The first step towards those goals was completed on Thursday. The Nevada State Gaming Commission approved a move to put the corporation in the hands of a new board of directors and Chief Executive Scott Butera.

The board conveniently excluded the owner of the corporation, William Yung III. He was supposed to be one of the people on the board, but the company decided against it.

"We don't take any advice or direction from him. He's anxious to get this resolved and move on," said Butera, to regulators who questioned him on the subject.

Butera has already began making an impact. He has negotiated a deal with the culinary and bartenders unions that represent750 of Tropicana's employees. He is focusing his efforts on improving the relations between management and their employees.

Butera will be on the board but will not be the head of it. Thomas Benninger is the leader of the board that will also include Bradford Smith and Michael Corrigan.
