Tropicana Trying To Fool Commission and Regain Control of Casino
Tropicana Entertainment LLC lost control of their casino in Atlantic City, the Tropicana Casino and Resort, last year. Now, they will try to convince New Jersey Casino Control Commission that they are a reformed company.
How will they do that? The plan is to tell the Commission that they have rid themselves of the two things that caused them to lose the casino in the first place, their owner and not up to standards service and cleanliness.
The company has filed papers in U.S. Bankruptcy Court that indicate they are seeking to regain control of the casino they lost last year. The Tropicana in Atlantic City was one of the casinos the company did not include when filing for bankruptcy protection earlier in the year.
The company will have a tall task ahead of them to try and regain control of the Atlantic City casino. They will have to convince the Gaming Commission that William Yung no longer is in control of the company. It will be difficult to do considering the fact that Yung owns the company.
Yung has signed away his right to control the company, but still owns it. Therefore, the company will have to make the Commission believe that the signing over of the company was not a bogus effort to recreate their image.
Tropicana currently remains open despite the state's efforts to find a new owner for the casino. Retired state Supreme Court Justice Gary Stein is running the casino until they find an owner.
