Trump Entertainment Resorts had good news and bad news for their customers on Friday. The good news is the company has emerged once again from bankruptcy. The bad news is Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino has been temporarily closed until Sunday.

On Thursday, Trump Plaza was one of two casinos in Atlantic City that had air conditioning issues resulting from a utilities problem late Wednesday night. The casinos stayed open on Thursday with temperatures in the mid eighties, but by Friday the heat had become unbearable.

"We have decided to temporarily close both our casino and hotel because the utility issue that has shut down our air conditioning has brought the quality of experience in our hotel below the standards to which we consistently hold ourselves," said Mark Juliano, Chief Executive of Trump Entertainment.

Temperatures reached into the nineties on Friday, and it became apparent that customers were not going to stand the heat inside the casino or hotel. The facility will be closed until 10AM on Sunday, meaning that revenue figures that already were expected to be low, will suffer a further hit for July.

The good news for Trump Entertainment is that after a year of battles regarding ownership, the company has finally emerged from bankruptcy. With three properties in Atlantic City, it is important that Trump Entertainment regain their stature if the city is going to have a resurgence in customers.

Pennsylvania and Delaware have already started to pull customers away from New Jersey casinos. Earlier this month, Pennsylvania casino unveiled their new table games that are expected to help the state compete on a monthly basis for the gaming revenue in the Northeast.

Marc Lasry of Avenue Capital Group is Trump's largest bondholder, and along with Donald Trump, the pair won the rights to Trump Entertainment in bankruptcy proceedings. Lasry will now serve as the chairman of the reorganized Trump Entertainment company.
