Two Groups Give $250,000 To Gambling Limits Law Fight In Missouri
The state of Missouri has a gambling limit law that states that no person can lose more than $500 in a two hour period. The casinos in the state want the law changed, and they are spending big money to help in the fight.
Pinnacle Entertainment and Ameristar Casinos have each donated $250,000 to a group that is fighting to overturn the current gambling limit laws. The money will be well spent should the limit laws be changed.
The two company's have poured money into the coalition so far in the legal battle. Pinnacle has given $1.19 million to the already, while Ameristar has donated $1.21 million. Ameristar has a casino in St. Charles, and Pinnacle has two in St.Louis, President and Lumiere Place.
Flooding along the Mississippi River has caused the closure of President for the past month. The casino finally reopened on Wednesday.
The Yes For Schools First Coalition is the group that has been lobbying for the end of the limit laws. They are claiming that without the limit laws, casinos can take in more money, which will in turn make for more revenue dollars that go to the school system.
The Missouri Gaming Association has also made donations to the group. Their donations equaled $12,948. The group is hoping to have a referendum on the November ballot.
