Gaming Commissions around the US are becoming more prevalent with the expansion of casinos in the country. Late this week, two Iowa casinos were fined for allowing in patrons who should not have been admitted into their casinos.

The Diamond Jo Casino in Dubuque allowed a patron into the casino that was on a self-exclusion list. That means that the gambler had recognized a gambling problem, and signed a document which basically banned themselves from the casino. The casino was fined $3,000 for the violation.

The Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington received a much harsher $20,000 fine. The casino allowed in a minor who was under the legal gambling age. Not only was the underage gambler permitted in the casino, but she was also served alcoholic beverages.

"These casinos will always test their limits when it comes to the rules, but most of the time these violations are done unintentionally," said Gaming Analyst Brad Dawkins, "When they do get caught, however, there is usually a big price to pay."

Around the US, casino gambling has become a popular way for lawmakers to create revenue for state budgets. The economic recession has caused many states to expand their gambling options.

In Ohio, voters approved casino gambling for the first time after shooting the idea down in several past elections. Other states have raised wager limits and expanded hours of operations for their casinos in an effort to increase revenue.
