Venetian Gambling Casino Resort To Open in Macau on Tuesday
Las Vegas has long been considered the place to be when it comes to mixing a full splurge vacation with the availability of gambling, but that may all change on Tuesday as Macau will become the focus of the gambling world's attention.
Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire that is the chairman of Las Vegas Sands Corporation, will open his newest project on Tuesday, a project that's estimated cost is $2.4 billion.
The resort is set to represent Venice, like the Venetian in Las Vegas, and is going to be housed in the second largest building in the world behind the Boeing company plant in Washington.
Everything that Vegas offers will be offered at the new building, there will be fine dining, shops, a 15,000 seat sports arena, and 1.2 million square feet of convention space.
The building will most certainly hurt Las Vegas because high roller gamblers that come in from China will now have an alternative that is much closer in proximity than Vegas was.
Cirque du Soleil will be producing a show for the resort, so the entertainment will most certainly be top of the line and the food and shops will be nothing short of remarkable.
The fact that Macau will become a vacation spot for all kinds of travelers will make the resort much more than a place just for gamblers, and soon Macau may surpass Vegas as the #1 travel spot for gamblers and vacationers alike.
In addition to the Venetian, the Sands is set to open hotels such as The Four Seasons, Sheraton, and St. Regis next door. They are prepared to invest almost $12 billion into building 20,000 hotel rooms on the strip.
