Video Gambling Terminals Could Be Coming To Kentucky
Gambling revenue. It is the driving force behind many politicians sudden change in stances regarding legalized forms of gambling in their states. The economy is in the dumps, and state representatives are turning to gambling to bail them out.
Kentucky could become the latest in the long line of states that are lining up to ride the gambling wave. Representative Greg Stumbo is suggesting that he will propose legislation during the 2009 General Assembly that would legalize video poker at racetracks.
The proceeds from the video gambling would go to the typical things. Education would be at the top of the list, with tax cuts also a possibility if enough money is generated.
Kentucky also has an interest in helping their horse industry. Money from the terminals could also go to this cause. As for the taxes, people would save money on their boats and motor vehicles.
If Stumbo's Bill is accepted, the Kentucky Lottery Corp. would be the organization responsible for overseeing the gambling machines. Whether Stumbo can convince his fellow representatives that the increased revenue would be beneficial to the state or not is still up in the air.
